Dec. 3

They had the festival of lights downtown around the old state capitol (which I think is much prettier than the new one, but that is just me). It started at 4, but we waited until Josh got off to go, but he got stuck in traffic. So we left later than we wanted to. Then there was traffic getting off the interstate. I waited forever to park in the parking garages just to find out they were full and had to turn around. It would be nice if the cop was redirecting traffic to NOT turn down the street with the full parking garages. By that time we had already missed the fireworks! I saw some of it from my car. So I finally met Cheri at another parking garage a little further away. It was 7:00-7:30 at this point and it ended at 9:00! But we went down there! We will have fun anyways! It was hard to move through the crowds with the strollers so we tried to walk out of the crowded areas. Well we stumbled across a Monster truck and they were giving out FREE Monsters! Heck yea! Then I saw some guys with really short shorts that just got done running the fun run. We were all hungry so we went in subway and had us some grub. Westin ate almost a whole bag of chips! Glad his appetite is back. He even ate some gram crackers before that too! Then we met up with Cindy and her friends.

This is sweet Zoe! I thought I added a pic of Zoe and Westin playing footies, but I guess I didn't! They are def liking each other more! They are so getting married! lol

So then we went to the old state capitol and they kids rolled down the big hill! Westin wanted to do it too so we walked down the hill and played with the other kids! We walked up and down that hill about 5 times and I was pooped out! Then it was 9:00, time to go! We had a lot of fun and it was a really nice night! The high was 70 and the low was only 38. I didn't really need a jacket when we first got there. But as it got closer to 9:00 I def needed a jacket! Perfect weather, I just wish we could have got there sooner!

Dec. 2

This is the best shot I got of the Christmas tree. We've had a naked Christmas tree for about a week. We got our Christmas tree on Thanksgiving then mom went on a cruise Sat and she just got back yesterday. She was tired of seeing a naked Christmas tree so she got in the attic and dug around for the lights and decorations. Well mom couldn't find the Christmas tree lights! She was in the attic for well over 30 mins looking for the lights until she finally found them! I'm not sure how it is going to work with Westin. He wants to touch all the ornaments and there is a latter with elfs on them that I can see him breaking lol We will just have to keep and eye on him! Last year he would care less about the tree, but did try to open a few presents lol. And now 1 year later he is getting into everything!

challenge

What has been challenging in my life? Well that is easy! There are 2 times, but they are connected. The first was when my son was 5 days old and we found out he had tetrogy of the fallot. He went to a cardiologist to check out a heart mur mur and after having an echo done the results were in and our son has a heart defect. They immediately admitted him to the hospital which was 2 hours away from out home. They wanted to make sure he was well enough to go home and did not need surgery. He was in the hospital for 5 days and we stayed at the Ronald McDonald house in Kansas City and Roy drive back and forth twice a day to pick my mom up from our house and bring her to the hospital so she could see Westin. It was a really hard time, but I was so glad when I got to finally take my baby home for good! And the second challenge was when my son had surgery. We knew he would eventually have to have surgery, but it depended on him as to when. Lucky we moved to a different post (my husband is in the army) where the hospital was much closer! We went in for our first cardio appt at our new location and Westin just went crazy when the doctor tried to do an echo. I dunno what it was, but he would not calm down and with his heart that is not good. They had to give him oxygen and even ended up having to sadate him while we waited for the ambulance to take us to the Children's hospital downtown. And there he stayed over the weekend to get evaluated. Roy and I took turns staying the night b/c all they had in the room was a crappy couch! And the results were in, the doctors at the hospital didn't think it was necissary for him to have surgery right away, BUT they spoke with our cardio that we first saw and he witness his crazy spell so he thought Westin should have surgery right away. So Westin had open heart surgery that Tuesday! Seeing my baby go through those double doors to have surgery was the hardest thing I have ever done! I broke down when I saw that! And when we got to see him after surgery was hard seeing him connected to machines and soo many tubes, but I thought he looked good! I was happy to see him! And now my baby is all better and never stops moving just like any other (almost) 2 year old! I love him and I am so lucky to have him!

Dec. 1

I got cookies coming out of my wazoo! But first I want to talk about my day. Cheri wanted to go to HL and TJ Maxx so she asked if I wanted to go! I said heck yea. So I had to wake up and hurry up and get ready and meet her at HL. But on the way I had to stop at the ATM and get some cash out and I had to get gas so I was running a little late. I wanted to look for a cricut mat, but they were out of the 12x12 size! Cheri got some cute fabric and some stuff to make Christmas cards. She just decided she wants to make Christmas cards lol. Then we went and ate at Jason's deli b/c we were hungry! Then we went to Target and I got Jermey (my older bro) his Christmas gift! The kids were getting crazy and Westin even almost fell asleep in the cart! So we went home after Target and didn't make it to TJ Maxx :( Maybe we will go Friday! When we got home I put Westin down for a nap and I went to Wal-mart and got a cricut mat and a few other things that I needed and also ran into an old friend. Then he woke up, I fed him some oatmeal, then I made taco's for the fam. I wasn't really hungry so I didn't eat. Then I decided to bake some cookies! I found this recipe and tried it and loved it! And I have been craving them, but needed a few things so I got what I needed at Wal-mart and finally made those cookies! I thought it was appropriate to start off the month with some baking! I love to bake! And these cookies are so good! Yum yum!
I am excited b/c mom comes home tmw. She left on a cruise Sat and comes back tmw! I think Westin has been missing her. He walked in her dark empty room today like he was looking for her. I miss her too. It is like the house doesn't run right without her.

summer vacation

I saw this sketch from creative scrappers and really wanted to try it out. I love blocking, but I really wanted to amp it up! And I think I did just that! Some stitching and embellies made it pop! I really like how this LO turned out! Oh and this is a pic of my little man hanging out in my mom's pool this past summer :)

scrapbook book

The AGC (anything goes challenge) over at sb.com, had a weekly challenge to put all your loose LO's nice and neat in your scrapbook. Since I don't have much scrappin space at Mom's I have to put all my LO's I complete in my scrapbook. So here is a pic of my scrapbook and the pages that I have so far.

I just bought this scrapbook so I just started filling it. I still have some LO's that need to go in here, but they are at home.


I have a few LO's missing that I need to finish. I don't scrap in order so I leave spaces available so when I do get to the LO I have a space to put it in my book!

For the AGC (anything goes challenge) over at sb.com. Today's daily challenge was to clean up an area of our scrap space. I don't have much space to scrap at my mom's so I am cleaning up my desk top for the challenge.
